About Rich Goldman LinkedIn-icon

The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me – The Rich Goldman StoryWhen Rich Goldman graduated from Columbia University in the late 1970’s, he immediately went to work as a media buyer for an ad agency working on the Toys “R” Us account. It was a good job and Rich caught on quickly. But to him the best part of the day was getting in early and reading the Wall Street Journal. Day in and day out, Rich would be consumed by the articles about the U.S and world economy, politics, the global markets, currency, social and political movements and everything that, to him, this awe-inspiring newspaper had to offer. One day, Rich’s boss sat down, looked him in the eye and said, “Rich, I’m letting you go. Not because you’re a bad media buyer, but because you’d be a really good financial advisor. You should be on Wall Street, not Madison Avenue.” That boss later became Rich’s first investment client.

Rich considers his boss’s keen eye and courage to give a young kid a shove in the right direction an act of love. It was a godsend and allowed Rich to move from a job he liked to a career that he would love, that would ultimately become his life’s work.

His first job was in Manhattan’s financial district with a big Wall Street firm where he learned the ropes. For Rich, that firm was Paine Webber and later he moved on to Smith Barney. After about 10 years with each firm, and feeling that his experience and wisdom were pulling him in a new direction—a new way of looking at investment opportunities that he saw as inevitable in our fast-changing world—Rich made a bold move to strike out on his own. He decided to serve his clients through his own vision of investing, an alternative vision to the status quo.

Today, that firm, formerly named Rich Goldman Asset Management, is Conscient Capital. It reflects Rich’s belief that understanding comes from having a clear vision of the world we live in and how it affects our lives. He has trained his asset managers to do as he has done for decades: take a macro view of the world with a micro view of the global markets, currencies, business, trade, politics, economics and more to develop an alternative path, an Alternative Vision Investing plan for clients.

Rich’s dream is being fulfilled with every client he serves and every money manager he enlightens. He is a teacher at heart and enjoys discussing the finer points of what he does. In so doing, he is helping people see the reality of the world we live in and showing them that instead of being afraid of it, or baffled by it, there are ways to capitalize on it. For this time. For our time.
