These Are Times of Change… And Change Brings Opportunity
May 19, 2013 7:00 amIn today’s world, most traditional “safe havens” like treasury bills and bonds could really be called “not-so-safe havens.” Unprecedented government intervention has created distortions in practically all markets. So what is an investor to do? The easiest answer to that question would be to simply take your ball and go home. If the rules aren’t fair, why play? Not a great option when it comes to your future.
With the sobering reality of the global banking system, over-indebted sovereign nations, and ongoing interference in financial markets, you may think that’s the conclusion we’ve come to as well. And we may sound like perma-bears, but let us assure you that we are not. We are actually quite the opposite. We believe the process and ultimate solution to world’s current financial problems will naturally create winners and losers. This means that for some, the future holds the potential for great opportunity and abundance. For others, it may mean the status quo or even diminished opportunities or smaller results.
So who falls into each camp—the winners and the losers? The winners likely will be those people who see the world for what it is today and place themselves, through their investment choices, in a position to reap the benefits. The losers will likely be the ones who ignore the realities of the world we live in and place themselves in the path of yesterday’s high returns. Times have changed and change brings opportunity, but that is often new opportunity. Many people aren’t ready for that kind of change. The question is, are you, and can you afford not to be?
Conscient Capital was built on the premise that the times we live in are unlike any other era in our lifetimes and that they require an alternative vision for investing. We aren’t trying to change our reality. We’re trying to work with it rather than against it. This approach requires a great deal of knowledge, experience, and perspective. And that is what we provide for our clients: Creative, critical, and independent thinking; an alternative to the status quo.
